The Computer Science Transfer degree covers the core programming, math and science courses that university computer science departments require for junior standing. You’ll write real code from your first week and graduate ready for upper-level work.
What you’ll learn
- Programming in Python and Java
- Data structures, algorithms and object-oriented design
- Calculus, discrete mathematics and linear algebra
- Computer organization and introductory systems
- Version control, testing and teamwork on software projects
Why Palmetto Ridge
Classes meet in the Ridgeview STEM Center, where our open computing lab stays available into the evening and peer tutors are on hand for every intro course. Professor Hyun-woo and Professor Leticia teach small sections where you’ll get feedback on your actual code, not just your grade. Each spring, students build an app for a local nonprofit in our Community Code project, giving you a portfolio piece before you transfer. Courses align with the South Carolina statewide transfer agreement, and graduates have continued at Clemson, the University of South Carolina, College of Charleston and Winthrop. Hybrid sections let you take some lectures through RidgeLearn.
