The degree is fully online through RidgeLearn, with a 240-hour supervised field placement at an agency near you. Placements include family service centers, recovery programs, veterans’ organizations and the social work department at Lowcountry Regional Medical Center. Professor Bernadette, a licensed social worker, and Professor Khalid, a peer recovery specialist, teach from years of practice. Coursework supports pathways toward peer support and addiction counseling credentials in South Carolina. Graduates who want to become licensed social workers can continue toward a bachelor’s in social work at an SC public university.
