What you’ll learn

  • Music theory, aural skills and sight-singing
  • Private lessons on your primary instrument or voice
  • Music history, including gospel, jazz, blues and spirituals
  • Ensemble performance
  • Music technology and recording basics

Why Palmetto Ridge

Classes, practice rooms and our 400-seat concert hall are all in the Hollis Arts Center on the Ridgeview Campus. Students perform in the Palmetto Ridge Concert Choir, Jazz Ensemble and Gospel Choir, which carries a tradition reaching back to the college’s founding in 1894. Our recording studio lets you produce your own tracks. Professor Lorraine, our choral director, and Professor Miguel, who leads the jazz program, coach every student toward a strong transfer audition. Courses align with the South Carolina statewide transfer agreement, and graduates have continued at SC State, Winthrop, College of Charleston and the University of South Carolina.
