Brenda Washington has helped Palmetto Ridge students pay for college for more than twenty years. She leads a team that awards federal and state grants, scholarships, work-study, and emergency aid, and she makes sure students understand every option before they ever consider a loan.
Brenda launched FAFSA Fridays, free drop-in help sessions for students and families, and she helped design the Hawks Promise Scholarship, which covers tuition for Lowcountry high school graduates from families earning under $60,000 a year. She is known for explaining complicated paperwork in plain language and for her calm, reassuring presence. She sings in her church choir and spoils her four grandchildren.
