Dr. Miguel Santos-Rivera oversees all academic programs, faculty, and the college’s transfer and workforce pathways. Born and raised in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, he started his teaching career at a community college in Orlando and never looked back. He believes great teaching is the most powerful student-success strategy a college has.
Since joining Palmetto Ridge in 2016, he has expanded guaranteed transfer agreements with every public university in South Carolina, helped launch the Gullah Geechee Studies certificate, and championed open educational resources that have saved students more than a million dollars in textbook costs. He still teaches General Chemistry once a year and is known for bringing café con leche to faculty meetings.
