Professor Keiko Tanaka-Brooks directs the Palmetto Ridge Concert Choir and Hawks Chamber Singers and teaches music theory and music appreciation. Raised in Honolulu by a Japanese American mother and a father from Georgia, they bring a wide range of musical traditions into every rehearsal.

Professor Tanaka-Brooks believes everyone can sing, and their choirs welcome students with no prior experience alongside seasoned performers. Recent programs have featured spirituals, Gullah ring shouts, Japanese folk songs, and new works by student composers. They also advise the Pride Alliance student organization. Their Winter Choral Concert in the Hollis Arts Center has become one of the most beloved traditions of the year.
