The “Bricks & Belonging” walking tour series continues this fall. Led by Heritage Center curator Prof. Elijah Gadsden, the tour starts inside historic Old Main, where students made the bricks by hand in 1902, and continues along Cooper’s Run to Veterans Memorial Green.
Along the way, you will hear about the college’s 1894 founding by Rev. Josiah Freeman and Abigail Hollis Marsh, the 1967 merger that made Palmetto Ridge one of the first integrated junior colleges in South Carolina, and the restoration of Old Main after Hurricane Hugo. The route is about one mile and wheelchair accessible. Free; registration is encouraged.
