Maya Alvarez leads communications for Palmetto Ridge, including the website, news, social media, publications, and media relations. A former newspaper reporter in Raleigh, she joined the college in 2020 with a mission to tell the stories of students, faculty, and alumni in their own words.
Maya oversees accessibility standards across all college communications, from captioned videos to plain-language web pages. She also coordinates the Spanish-language version of key admissions and financial aid materials. Her favorite part of the job is spending a day shadowing a different program each month, from nursing simulations to welding labs. She is a proud first-generation college graduate and a lifelong fan of telenovelas.
