Biology students working at microscopes in the lab

The Biology Transfer degree is the first half of a bachelor’s in biology or the life sciences. It’s an ideal starting point for students aiming at medical, dental, pharmacy or veterinary school, or at careers in research and conservation.

What you’ll learn

  • Cell and molecular biology
  • Genetics and evolution
  • General and organic chemistry with lab
  • Physics and statistics
  • Laboratory techniques, data analysis and scientific writing

Why Palmetto Ridge

Biology labs in the Ridgeview STEM Center are equipped with research-grade microscopes, PCR equipment and a greenhouse where students grow native coastal plants. Lab sections are capped at 24, which means you’ll actually run the experiments yourself. Our Undergraduate Research Scholars program pairs students with faculty like Professor Imani on projects such as marsh grass genetics, and students present their work at state research conferences. Courses follow the South Carolina statewide transfer agreement, and graduates have continued at Clemson, the University of South Carolina, College of Charleston, SC State and Winthrop. Pre-health advising begins in your first semester.
