Paralegals are essential members of every legal team. They research the law, draft documents, organize case files and help attorneys serve their clients. This degree prepares you to work in law firms, corporate legal departments, courts and government agencies.

What you’ll learn

  • Legal research and writing
  • Civil litigation and trial preparation
  • Real estate, wills, estates and family law
  • Contracts, torts and business law
  • Legal ethics, e-discovery and law office technology

Why Palmetto Ridge

The entire program is available online through RidgeLearn, taught by practicing attorneys and senior paralegals. Instructor Natalie, a former litigation paralegal turned attorney, leads the capstone internship with a local firm, legal aid office or court. Coursework includes South Carolina real estate and heirs’ property law, areas with special importance in the Lowcountry. You’ll build a writing portfolio of memos, briefs and pleadings to show employers, and you’ll be prepared to sit for national paralegal certification exams after graduation. Many graduates are hired by their internship site.
