Hawks men’s soccer players battling for the ball at dusk

Hawks men’s soccer reflects the global reach of Palmetto Ridge, with players this season from nine countries, as well as from towns across South Carolina. Head coach Mateo Okafor-Reyes, who played collegiately and coached youth national teams, teaches a patient, possession-based style built on technical skill and smart movement off the ball.

Coach Okafor-Reyes measures success by more than wins. International and domestic players alike get support with academics, housing and adjusting to life in the Lowcountry, and the team maintains the department’s 3.2 average GPA. Hawks Field’s lighted pitch is a game-night favorite, and recent graduates have continued playing at four-year programs in the Carolinas, Georgia and beyond.
