Hawks esports competes year-round in national collegiate leagues across titles including Rocket League, Overwatch 2, Valorant and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Head coach Jordan Vu, a former professional player and broadcaster, runs the program like any varsity sport, with scheduled practices, film review and team goals. Matches are streamed from the Hawks Esports Arena in Ridgeview Commons, featuring 24 competition stations and a broadcast booth.
Coach Vu emphasizes communication, teamwork and healthy habits, including physical training and screen breaks. Players maintain the department’s 3.2 average GPA, and many are studying computer science, cybersecurity or digital media. Several Hawks have earned esports scholarships at four-year universities.
